Following a nearly five year term conducting physical security in the United States Navy, I decided to follow my pre Naval goals in pursuing a career in the field of Cybersecurity. Following beginning my degree at Columbia Basin College, I applied to Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for an internship position, where I have been employed since.
Growing up, I had a passion for cybersecurity. This all began when playing video games as a child and watching "hackers" take advantage of using their interesting yet malicious skillset to achieve certain advantages. I thought to myself "How can I stop this from happening?". When I graduated highschool in 2016, I wanted to pursue this interest as a career. I searched around at the time for a cybersecurity degree from colleges in Maine, and wasn't having any luck. I decided at this point that I should join the United States Navy, and do my part to serve my country. During my time in the Navy, I gathered extensive knowledge in physical security while making rank quickly. Beginning my leadership status from leading 8 sailors on a security post to being a squad leader of 20ish sailors at a nuclear weapon facility, doing physical security as a Petty Officer Second Class. Following this, I earned my honorable discharge from the Navy and attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA. Here, I earned my BAS in Cybersecurity within three years. During college, I have been interning at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, meeting brilliant people and learning an abundance of new skills every day. While at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory I have worked in various different areas of cybersecurity. These areas include; IoT, National Critical Infrastructure, Army Cybersecurity Assessments, Operational Technology (HBOMs), Network Traffic Analysis, and others. During this internship, I earned my CompTIA Security+ Certificate, with plans to soon obtain my CompTIA Network+ Certificate.
My personal hobbies include building out my home lab, which you can read more about over in the "Home Lab" tab at the top of the screen. Reading is an extreme passion of mine. I am a massive fan of the Fantasy/Sci-Fi genre of books. A few particular favorites of mine are Red Rising by Pierce Brown, The Sun Eater Series by Christopher Ruoccio, the Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson, and The Will of the Many by James Islington.
Luckily enough I have a wife that shares a passion for security and literature. My wife, Alexis, and I have been married for almost two years. We share a beautiful daughter named Andromeda. Our daughter will turn 1 in May of 2025. This past year has been full of personal and professional growth and I look forward to what the future holds.
